Some clients want a clean finish around window frames. In this case window sashes are not used. Discuss this with us prior to the commencement of the plastering. See pic on this page. |

Plaster walls are hung 10 mm from the floor. This allows for small settling of the floor without any strain on the plaster sheet. The 10 mm gap is covered by the skirting. If you are undertaking some DIY to install the skirting it is a good idea to mark the wall studs on the floor. This makes it easier to nail the skirting neatly to the wall studs. You should also be careful in wet areas not to hammer a nail into a water pipe. Mark these on the floor. |
|
Pipes are pulled through the plaster sheet. Prior to gluing and nailing the sheet. Paint the wall before the plumbing is fitted off. |

Electricians usually mark the positions of power points and lights on the floor. Cables are pushed into the wall. This leaves a smooth wall for painting without cutting in around power points & switches. The electrician should “fit off" after painting is completed. If you are doing a bit of DIY painting , consider painting around the plasterboard where electrical points are to be located. This allows the electrician to fit off the various points on plaster that has been painted. |

Blueboard or cement sheet is used in bathrooms and wet areas. The sheet is nailed to the wall every 120mm where tiles are going to be applied. Glue is not used on the plaster. |
